For parents and teachers

Number Quest, explained for parents

Number Quest is a free math game for ages 5 to 16 and up. It has no ads, no in-app purchases and needs no sign-up. Children pick their age, then practise in short rounds: Quests, 60-second Sprints, Number Pop, untimed Practice and a Daily trail. It runs in any browser in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Indonesian.

Is Number Quest really free, with no ads?

Yes. Every trail, game and guide is free. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no loot boxes and no subscription. It is kept going by optional support from families, never by ads or by selling data.

What ages is it for?

Ages 5 to 16 and up, in five trails: Sprouts (5–6) for counting, shapes and first sums; Trail (7–9) for adding, times tables, time and money; Climbers (10–12) for fractions, decimals, percent and area; Scholars (13–15) for integers, algebra, ratios and exponents; and Masters (16+) for equations, functions, trigonometry and statistics. Any child can try any trail.

What does it teach?

Core school maths for each age: number sense, the four operations, times tables, missing numbers, telling the time, money, fractions, decimals, percentages, area, negative numbers, algebra, ratios, powers, equations, functions, trigonometry and statistics. Questions are made fresh on the device, so they don't repeat. Practice shows a written explanation after any wrong answer.

Does my child need an account?

No. Children can play as guests, and their stars and streaks are saved in the browser on that device. Accounts are only for people aged 13 and over: before sign-in we ask for a year of birth and keep only a yes or no result on the device. An account lets progress follow a player between devices.

What data does Number Quest collect?

For guests, progress stays in the browser and is not sent to us. With an account we store the name, email address and game progress needed to sync it. We don't sell personal information, show ads or use advertising cookies. Visitor statistics are counted without cookies. Practice's optional tutor sends only the question text to an AI service, never a name or email. The privacy policy has the full details.

Is the leaderboard safe for children?

The weekly leaderboard is off unless a player chooses to join. Everyone gets a made-up name from two word lists, such as "Perky Rabbit 13". Only signed-in players aged 13 and over can type their own name, and it is checked against a list of offensive words. There is no chat. Leaving deletes the entries straight away, and all entries are deleted after about five weeks.

How much screen time does it need?

Most rounds take two to five minutes. Families choose a daily goal of 5, 10 or 15 minutes, and reaching it keeps a streak going. Missing a day never takes anything away: shells, pets and hats that were earned stay earned.

Which devices does it work on?

Any recent browser on a phone, tablet, laptop or Chromebook, including shared school devices, since nothing needs installing. It needs an internet connection. An Android app on Google Play is on the way.

Can I see what my child has practised?

The home screen shows level, streak, shells, games played and stars for each game. A fuller progress view for parents, with accuracy by topic and what to practise next, is being built.

Can teachers use it in class?

Yes. The Daily trail gives everyone on the same trail the same eight questions each day, so a class can play it together and compare. No sign-up means it works on shared devices straight away. The guides by age and topic include example questions to use in lessons.

Who makes Number Quest?

Number Quest is made by Antoine, a French-speaking Belgian dad who has lived in Sydney since 2014 and publishes independently as Corbi.au. It began as a game for Antoine's daughter. The aim is a maths game that builds a daily habit without guilt trips or pop-up ads. Questions and ideas are welcome at hello@corbi.au.
